About

Kat Sayre is a self-taught home chef. When not baking, she is a sixth grade teacher in Boston, MA. Kat uses her free-time during school breaks to explore new flavors and create new recipes. Examples include spending an entire summer-break perfecting the chocolate chip cookie in honor of moving to the home state of the Tollhouse cookie, spending the entire month of December creating the perfect no-spread sugar cookie, and spending the "social distancing" of March 2020 crafting delightful cupcakes.
Kat grew up in a small town in Washington state, but has since lived in larger cities in Oregon, Utah, and Massachusetts. She frequently sends cookies to her immediate family in Idaho, Washington, and California and understands the complex nature of sending cookies across the continent.
Kat is currently engaged to Chris (seen in the photo below). She two are planning to wed in June 2020. She has used the experience of cake-sampling to discover new and unique cake flavors as well as recognizing a variety of methods to cake-decorating. Kat even learned how to create her wedding cake flavor as a gift to Chris for his birthday.

Baking is an act that comes from the heart. Sugar-Coated Spoon understands that "made with love" means licking the spoon, regardless of the sugary treat you're making.
